Adult Vocational Services
Adult Vocational Services (AVS) is a division of Developmental Disabilities Resource Center providing services and supports to assist each individual in attaining his or her highest potential of self-sufficiency and independence. Work/Day program options include:
- Individual jobs at community businesses
- Supervised crews working in community settings
- Highly structured work in a supervised facility setting
- Supervised community and facility based activities for whom work is not a priority

Individuals may apply for any of the following AVS services or a combination of services:
- Individual Community Employment
- Community Work Crew
- Work Services at Bruno Vocational Center
- Community Participation at Bruno Vocational Center
- Community Participation at Gray Street Center
- Discovery Computer Lab
Application for AVS service is a simple three step process:
1. Individual must meet eligibility for DDRC services. (If you have not previously been determined eligible, call the DDRC Intake Office at 303-462-6528 or 303-462-6533.)
2. Contact Tammy Drumright to request an evaluation and referral for services at 303-422-1305. (A referral packet must be submitted by your Resource Coordinator or Supported Living Counselor, and the funding identified for services.)
3. Upon completing an evaluation, a team meeting will be held to review the referral and placement with AVS. If services are immediately available, a starting date will be scheduled. If services are not currently available, the applicant will be placed on a waiting list for the service area. (Any decisions to decline service to a consumer will be discussed at the evaluation meeting and a letter explaining the reasons for declining service to a consumer will be sent to the consumer and their family/provider as well as the Resource Coordinator.)
4. During referral, funding options will be discussed.
Bruno Vocational Center Work Services
Services and supports are designed to provide individuals with a developmental disability opportunities for paid work in a large manufacturing setting.
Services
Supervision and support is provided by qualified trained staff
- A variety of light industrial packaging and assembly jobs are offered
- Training or support in productivity
- Interpersonal skill development
Admission Criteria
- Pre-admission evaluation
- Developmental Disability
- Age 18 or older
- Exhibits safe behavior
- Able to function without life support apparatus
- Has transportation to and from base site
- Able to care for personal needs with appropriate assistance and/or adaptive equipment
- Able to function safely within established staff to consumer ratio
- Medical protocols provided upon request
Day Services: Community Participation
AVS provides supervised day activities in the community or facility based. Community based activities are designed to enable individuals to access their communities. These activities include socialization and adaptive skills training with personnel to accompany and support individuals in all types of community settings.

- Recreation/leisure/cultural/volunteer activities
- Prevocational/money management training
- Adaptive skills training
- Therapy sessions based on funding eligibility

- Exhibits safe behavior
- Able to function without life support apparatus
- Has transportation to and from base site
- Able to care for personal needs with assistance
- Able to function safely within established staff to consumer ratio

Community Employment Services:
Work Crews
AVS provides services and supports for individuals to help them attain and maintain paid employment in integrated small group settings. Supervised work crew sites are provided for individuals that benefit from close daily supervision and support.

- Labor market analysis
- Job related training and support
- Daily supervision at work site
- Assistance in arranging transportation
- Transportation to and from work may be provided
Admission Criteria
- Pre-admission, vocational, evaluation/assessment and criminal background check
- Developmental Disability
- Age 18 or older
- Able to work within community setting
- Able to work without supervision up to one hour
- Self-medicates and exhibits safe behavior
- No barriers to earned income and is committed and motivated to work
- Will follow work rules
Community Employment Services: Individual Employment
AVS provides services and supports for individuals to help them attain and maintain paid employment within a variety of businesses. Individual work locations are carefully developed to match an individual’s interests and abilities.

- Vocational evaluation
- Job seeking skills class
- Job exploration/Job development
- Job support /coaching
- On- the- job training
- On going support to maintain employment
- Travel training for RTD or ACCESS-A-Ride
- Assistance in arranging other modes of transportation
Admission Criteria
- Pre-admission, vocational, evaluation/assessment and criminal background check
- Developmental Disability
- Age 18 or older
- Able to learn the use of public transportation (or alternative)
- Able to work without daily supervision
- Self-medicates and exhibits safe behavior
- No barriers to earned income
- Is committed and motivated to work
- Willing to follow work rules and job placement/ training plan
